Tier 1 (Advanced) Ruger 10/22 Trigger Work

This sale is for services on your trigger group. Component pieces of your group will be upgraded, but you supply the initial group.

(We offer more trigger colors than anyone else around, because we Cerakote every one right here in house. If you selected a Gun Candy color, please make that selection from the bottom drop down menu. It saves you time, and us hassle. Thanks!)

The Tier 1 Trigger Work

This job has everything the previous two levels of work have, so it's not a bad idea to at least skim through them to get an idea of what's going on.

This trigger job picks up where the Tier 2 leaves off. You now have everything fitted, polished, tuned, and brought down to whatever weight of pull you request. You also have one of our billet CNC'd triggers with it's internal torsion trigger return spring and integral overtravel stop.

What the Tier 1 gets you is an adjustable sear, and extra time spent tuning and polishing everything to ensure that we have coaxed every possible ounce of performance from your group. The adjustable sear allows us to eliminate the pre-travel from your group, so that when you touch the trigger, it's already hit 'the wall.' At this point there is no perceptible movement in the trigger, just a crisp click, or glass rod break. This is known as a single stage trigger, versus the two stage triggers which have movement before you hit the wall. Your trigger will be equal to a high end target trigger on a bolt action rifle, and superior to most aftermarket 10/22 groups in actual trigger feel. Obviously you don't get the stunning machined group, or the bragging rights that go with a full group, but your actual trigger feel and function will be on par with most anything out there.

If you are going to be competing, or are just very serious about your shooting, then this is the trigger for you. Or, if you are actively considering spending the money for an aftermarket group, but are still slightly on a budget, this might also be the job for you.

Pull Weight
2lbs is the lightest we can safely go with a 10/22 trigger. Doesn't matter what level of trigger work you get. The higher levels of work will give you a better quality of trigger pull and more refined movement, but all three Tiers cannot go below 2lbs.
The Sweet Spot is our most popular option. It's wherever your trigger naturally wants to go, and where it's going to feel best. It will be between 2 and 2.5lbs.
2.5lbs is a great all-round option. It's heavy enough for beginning shooters or hunters, but it's still light enough for accurate shooting.
3.0+lbs. This option is for folks who shoot in certain competitions that require at least a 3lb trigger. A 3lb weight will be hooked to the trigger, and the trigger will need to be able to pick up that weight. We do NOT recommend this pull weight for most people!! I understand that it doesn't sound like much of a difference, but when you have this trigger next to a 2.5lb trigger, it will feel significantly heavier and less precise.

Trigger colors
Click on the image at the top of the page with all of the triggers, to see the available color choices. We are a Cerakote Certified applicator, and every trigger is coated here in house. These are the colors we commonly stock, but in the future there will be options for truly custom colors. We have edited the above image to appear as true as possible in color to the finished product, but understand that there could be slight variations on color from one batch to the next, or when displayed on different monitors. If you are getting other parts Cerakoted, it is always best to do everything at the same time, so that the colors all match exactly.

There is a little metal tab on the bottom of the trigger housing, towards the front of the trigger guard. If you hold the bolt to the rear, push up on this tab, and let the bolt forward, it will lock the bolt open. This is used as a safety on ranges that require the action to be open when the range is 'cold', or for when you are cleaning the barrel. To close the bolt however, you need three hands. One to hold the rifle, one to pull back on the bolt, and the third to press up on that tab and somehow rotate it to the rear. It's a pain, and not exactly safe if you have a loaded magazine inserted. Our modification makes it so you still lock the action open exactly the same as before, but to close the bolt you just pull back slightly on the charging handle and let it go, just like you do with any other semi-auto firearm. The hold back will will drop out of the way on it's own when you pull back on the charging handle, without you touching the bolt release. This is NOT a last round hold open! No 10/22 built has a last round hold open from the factory. There is one company making them, Google it if you have more questions. We don't carry or install the part.

Gr8ly Improved Trigger, workmanship minor annoyance

Posted by Will H. on Nov 11th 2020

Love the trigger, light & crisp. A vast improvement. However, this was from my 1st year International 10/22 which was sent in as a virgin,. No marks, scratches or scrapes. It returned with tool marks & skid marks on housing where drilled.... not a big deal as nothing shows when rifle assembled, just the idea of it all

I haven't put this in the gun yet and or fired it, but it seems that it will be a high performance trigger. Got a note telling me it is breaking at 2 pounds even. I pulled the trigger on it a few times (did not dry fire it), and feels just like the glass rod break they promised. Awesome! Brimstone rocks!

Tier 1 (Advanced) Ruger 10/22 Trigger Work

Posted by Mike on Sep 27th 2020

Got to try out the Tier 1 Ruger 10/22 Trigger Work this weekend.... It is absolutely terrific... I now have a flawless trigger with all the improvements Brimstone needed to make the RUGER Pistol Assembly, worth the name Ruger. I was not pleased with Ruger, that they allowed the trigger assembly to be so flawed. Now my Ruger 10/22 Carbine rifle the best it can possibly be....Thanks to Brimstone Gunsmithing... Well worth the money... totally pleased with the results.

Sloppy job.Two drill holes, safety button

Posted by Luis Sanchez on Sep 13th 2020

Sloppy job. My trigger came back ugly with holes drilled on the back. My safety button doesn't work great anymore. I have have to mess with the bolt action for it to function properly. (Reply: Hello! If you're having issues with your trigger, I hope you also followed up via email/phone call. We don't want anyone to be unhappy with their work. However regarding your complaint here, we make pretty clear that we are adding a couple of set screws; that's kind of the whole point, and they are clearly visible in the pictures. And 'Having to mess with the bolt action' to get the safety to work, it sounds like you're saying you have to cock it before you can put the safety on, which is true of every 10/22 ever made. Hope that helps! -Brimstone)

    Tier 1 10/22 trigger

Posted by PATRICK GEHRINGER on May 8th 2020

As usual, Brimstone mad my factory trigger into a high end trigger. One thing I missed that I've received on previous jobs was a note explaining the work- which included measured trigger pull on previous work.

    Tier 1 Ruger Trigger Work

Posted by Chris on Apr 7th 2020

We sent our trigger in for the Tier 1 Trigger work with the sweet spot option (ended up at 2 lbs 0 oz), and the wrap mag release. We also have a Tikka TX1, and this new trigger might just be a touch nicer. What an amazing job, words cannot honestly describe how happy we are. No creep, perfect break, and gorgeous reset. Forget anything else, and not just for the money. Thank you Brimstone, we love our Ruger again! Three week turn around.to boot from Canada.

    Fantastic work!

Posted by Kyle on Jan 10th 2020

This trigger work is superb! I have felt Triggers that were a little bit lighter on a pull gauge (I selected sweet spot), but the feel of this trigger makes it so much better than even the respectable 2.0 lb measure. The take-up and over travel are perfect, and there is virtually no perceptible movement before “the wall.” Highly recommend!
